Doug Benson joins the “Revenge of the Nerd Comics” showcase on Wednesday, November 21st at the Ft. Lauderdale Improv. Doug may be our coolest nerd yet as he is the creator of the “Marijuana-Logues” and a regular on VH1’s Best Week Ever, not to mention (but we’re about to) that he has a Comedy Central Presents and was a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Despite his coolness, he’s a huge movie nerd and now, officially, a nerd comic. |

Lisa Corrao is the producer and the host of the “Revenge of the Nerd Comics” showcase. She’s a self-proclaimed nerd, although she admits that this is the coolest she’s ever been...she also recently nearly drowned in the shower after inhaling a bit too hard whilst shampooing. A huge fan of sci-fi horror movies, video games, and scrabble, Lisa thinks zombies will one day take over the Earth, but she keeps her Zombie Survival Guide handy at all times. |

Andrew Burnette is a comic out of Tampa who is uneasy talking to people unless he has a microphone. His greatest relationship is the one that he has with words and his smart writing has helped him to gather many devoted fans. He has a passion for lactating goats and enjoys playing the washboard and spoons despite having little to no musical ability and an allergy to most barnyard critters. |
Nhan Du is often described as an Asian Mitch Hedberg...that may be hard to picture, but Nhan is known for his clever one-liners and twisty observations. He swears that “Nhan Du” is his real name and not a stage name...as far as he knows “there are no stages named Nhan Du.” He’s automatically a nerd just for being Asian, plus he’s an expert at popping and locking and an all-around break dancing fool. |
Graham Elwood is a kung fu expert and lover of time-traveling robots. He’s performed on “The Late Late Show” and has hosted several game shows. He has just released a new DVD entitled, “Graham Elwood Live from Afghanistan” available for purchase at www.grahamelwood.com. Graham has appeared on VH1’s “Best Bodies Ever” and hopes to one day meet space pirates. |
Ivan Hernandez is perhaps the comic who most fits the theme of this show. A regular in the “Revenge of the Nerd Comics” showcase, he’s a comic book nerd, complete with a gigantic collection of action figures. Ivan is an expert in many fields but especially comedy. He recently discovered a huge paradox in the universe...growing up, he couldn’t play Dungeons & Dragons because he never had enough friends to. Besides not being cool enough to play D&D, he also has trouble talking to girls. |
Mike Lawrence is a gigantic nerd in every way. He’s the king of obscure references and has absolutely no social skills. Mike loves puns, has zero fashion sense, and knows everything there is to know about comic books. He’s sharp and witty, and always has a moist handshake. Popular in the underground comedy scene in Florida, and now living in New York, Mike has many devoted fans eager for his funny social commentary laced with corny puns. |
Adrian Mesa closed the very first “Revenge of the Nerd Comics” showcase and was a crowd favorite with his improvised nerd-song at the end of the night. Adrian is a member of the Miami Comics and a winner of the Las Vegas Comedy Festival. Now living in Colorado, he’s missed and super-beloved within the Florida comedy scene due to his “off the dome,” always-changing and always exciting sets. Adrian thinks he’s a nerd only because of his glasses. |

Casey Peruski is a tv junkie with a lifelong gamer membership at Game Stop. He has a head full of 25 years of pro wrestling history along with a secret collection of action figures to back it up. He’s married to a hot yoga instructor, proving that there is hope for other nerds out there if they can be funny. Casey has a bachelor of science degree in information technologies which makes other nerds want to give him swirlies. |
Patrick Schroeder is the youngest of the nerd comics at only 17. We all hate him because of his talent and lack of photos, but we love him for his facial hair. Patrick is the most sarcastic of the bunch and doesn’t consider himself a nerd, to which Ivan reminds him that he has a blog devoted to wrestling and his opinions, which are always better than everyone elses (www.boosanta.blogspot.com). |
Forrest Shaw is a marine biologist who was conceived at Fish Eating Creek, a state park in Central Florida, in a VW camper van, so it was only fitting that he be named for the wonder and beauty of the natural world in which he was created. The only problem was Fish Eating Creek was a swamp and “Swamp Shaw” was a crappy name. Instead his parents decided on “Forrest,” thus insuring years of ridicule by children with names like John, Mary, and Wilbur (yes, even Wilbur had someone to pick on now). |
